Welcome to the World, William!

Today at 10:26 a.m. our lives changed forever for the better when our baby, William Hunter Perri was born. He was born at 39 Weeks as scheduled by Dr. G. I had felt some contractions the night before and day of, yet they were not strong enough to be true labor pains I was told when we were at the hospital Labor and Delivery.

As my C-Sectionwas scheduled for 8:30a.m., l had to check in at 6:30 a.m. Matt and I checked in a little early as we thought the contractions I was feeling were the real thing. As it turned out not only had 10 women gone into labor the night before, there were two women there who unexpectedly were having C sections, all of which pushed my time up. In fact, they did not know when I’d go in, noon was even suggested as a possibility.

So we waited, and Dr. G left to see if he could assist in the other two surgeries Finally at about 9:50, we were told the room was ready for us.

Though I was a bit nervous, I had a great medical team. The anastesiologist, Dr. T, who had had to start an IV for me as the nurse could not find a good vein for me, did a great job of explaining things. A nurse had me hold onto her sides as Dr. T put in the numbing shot and the spinal. The spinal made me have shakes, so I made sure Dr. T knew it was spinal shakes and not terror.

I had to keep my arms outstretched for the surgery. Matt sat behind me and held my hand. Due to the anesthesia I only felt a little tugging and pulling. Our baby’s cry started as his head was delivered. He had his cord wrapped around his head but Dr. G easily moved it. Then Dr. G held him up to me and Matt got to tell me that we had a boy.

Since I’ve been Team Green, it was so amazing to finally know our child’s name and gender. I’m so grateful Matt kept the secret so I could be surprised.

This was truly my happiest day ever.
