One of the activities I was eagerly looking forward to at my shower was having guests decorate onesies for our baby. I had imagined this possibly with paint, however, Katki and Candy found a much neater alternative, Crafts 4 All’s Fabric Markers.
The set is composed of 12 bright different colors (though the black, brown and deep purple look a bit similar in their caps and may be mistaken for one another at first glance. The company makes a 24 color set with lighter and some pastel colors as well.
The instructions involve several steps over a few days including letting the fabric dry and going over the opposite side of the cloth on the design to protect its appearance.
One of the best features of the makers is that they have a thick and a fine tooth side. This made it easier for me to color in a stencil with the thicker side and write freehand with the thinner side.
My onesie featured several stenciled animals and “Take me to the zoo!” In writing and is the onesie on the left below.
There was a lot of creativity in the shower with a few ladies drawing images freehand with the thin side of the markers.
They were easy enough for children to use the and stay engaged. The one in the middle was made by a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old helped her mom on a different design.
The makers have a controlled flow that is perhaps too controlled. I and several of my guests noticed there were times when you had to press down harder and or go over areas a few times to get the amount of color we wanted. Overall these were fun and easy to use.
