I’d heard from several moms how amazing the in hospital photo sessions could be. For this reason I eagerly brought matching shirts for Matt, our baby and myself, as well as props, a few of which were gifts from people close to us. The photos turned our even more amazing then I had imagined.
The instructions from the photography company, which we were told to read and use to prepare ourselves and William for the session, had stated that most sessions would be about 15 minutes long and that in most cases the baby would sleep for the whole session. Neither of these statements turned out to be true in our case.
William did sleep for the most part in the early moments of the session. That let us take adorable photos of him with a blanket knit by Kathy and him with his stuffed teddy bear from Petra. I love this photo so much as it appears that he is playing Simon Says with the bear, though I can’t figure out who among them is Simon as they are both doing the action of having their hands up near the top of their heads.
The photographer and his assistant were excellent in helping us capture some great posed photos that highlight how adorable and small our baby was.
Perhaps as we were the last appointment of the day, perhaps as we had such great props including our Achievement Unlocked – Fatherhood, Motherhood and New Character created shirts, they were there for longer than 15 minutes when William predictably woke up and made the fact that he was awake obvious to all of us.
Yes, our vocal son let us know that he was not only awake, he was hungry and wanted his meal now.
To our great surprise, rather than end the session, the photographer offered to step out to let me nurse him and then they would rejoin us to continue his session.
