Post Partum Checkup /Last Visit with Dr. G

I eagerly looked forward to my 6 week post partum visit with Dr. G. I had not seen him since my hospital discharge day. If all went well I would be cleared to start resuming a full range of activities including lifting things and excercising. The OB/GYN Department was decorated with stockings of the employees.

The visit started with a quick questionnaire to access how My mood had been over the last week. While there have been challenges getting William to sleep, I’ve been very happy to be a parent and the results reflected that.

Dr. G was happy to hear that I was stocking with breastfeeding and told me how great it was for William and I, even if I have to keep supplementing with some formula. The medical exam part was quick and he cleared me to resume all activities starting small with lifting and exercising and working back up to my prepregnancy levels.

Afterwards we had to get a few photos of him with William. It cracks me up that William had open eyes for the candidate, then, just like his mom often does, had them closed for the portraits.

Candy even got a shot of the four of us. While my eyes aren’t closed, I am looking down at our son.

My whole pregnancy and giving birth went so smoothly with Dr. G as my OB. We were all so thankful that we bought Clicquot champagne and a thank you card that we all wrote individual messages in.

Dr. G will be retiring next month. I’m so happy he was able to be my physician for my entire pregnancy journey.
