My friend Rachel had told me when she received the invitation to my baby shower that she would be bringing a present she gives to all new moms and that everyone had loved it. I was intrigued by this and looked forward to it. That gift was Sophie the Giraffe, a toy which is famous in many mom circles though I was unfamiliar with it.
As the toy said 0+ months, it was packed in one of my hospital bags as something to make sure to introduce to William.
William was less than a week old when he first held Sophie for the first time. I tried to use the squeeky noise to get his attention or to distract him during a diaper change, yet he was not that interested in the toy at that time.
Now, however, he’s definitely showing signs of teething including lots of extra drooling, crying, fusiness, and trying to put objects, his own fist, even the fingers of others in his mouth to suck on them for relief. So, it was time to see if Sophie would help his teething.
One great thing about Sophie is that all parts are chewable, so there are many different surface area types to chew on.
William kept looking at Matt and I for confirmation that he was doing it right.
Unfortunately, he’s only able to grab onto Sophie a bit and the toy isn’t right yet for his grip. Still, he finds it more interesting and I know in time it will definitely become one of his favorites as Rachel predicted.
