Oh, Baby, the Places You’ll Go! A Book to Be Read in Utero – Book Review

As a child one of my favorite books was Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, I even remember enjoying it so much as a young adult when it was read in part at a graduation ceremony I attended. So I was excited to get Oh, Baby, the Places You’ll Go! A Book to Be Read in Utero as a baby shower book.

The back cover is a warm welcome into the Dr. Seuss world complete with one of his fantastical bird creatures.

I decided even though he is no longer in utero to see what William thought of the book. I was amazed to see him paying attention right from the start.

One of the best parts of the book is how almost every page is a mini story onto itself, telling you a bit about one of his books (though ironically not naming the books despite naming some of the characters in great detail). I love the look on William’s face here, he looks so engaged.

William even tried to help me hold the book, or at least as much as he was capable of.

The pages remind me of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, both obscure and familiar. Some of the books I’d have to look up (which with Google should be easy, so the book makes you think as well). It’s a great lead in read William some of his other books, several of which I also got for shower gifts. While some pages are quite the tongue twister to say, there’s fun visually and in the words on every page for parent and child.

Rating – five baby booties out of five
