The Day We Found Out – Throw Back Thursday

Last year on February 5th, I had one of the best days of my life. It started simply, as a Sunday I went to church, and stopped by the dollar store for some books. I’ve found some amazing new authors from the store. My period had been late, as it had in December, but this time I had a strong hunch I was pregnant. So I bought a few pregnancy tests along with my books.

I always had thought if this moment had happened, I’d come up with a fun and creative way to tell Matt. Instead, after seeing the test, I was too excited to wait and plan. I ran to the living room to tell him that the tickets we were planning to purchase for the Pleasanton St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl would have to be the Designated Driver ones as I was pregnant.

As the test I’d taken was a dollar store one, Matt was skeptical. So told me I’d have to get one from another store for confirmation. I bought a First Response one with two kits, one digital. I set it up and while waiting took another dollar store test. This second one showed a second line instantly, so I knew the digital test would confirm the results. I had Matt come watch it show Yes+.

It so happened that a dear friend was coming over that night for dinner. She had made me promise in December, when we were at Matt’s birthday party and I told her I was late and was hoping I was pregnant, that when I got that positive test I’d tell her second after Matt.

It was fun telling her the good news. She was almost as excited as we were and took the photo of us with our tests. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since all this happened.
