Years before Matt and I moved in together, I adopted Inky, a wonderful cat. She took well to roommates I had before then, and took to Matt instantly. We didn’t know how long it would take to warm up to William, yet we were confident it would happen. They are definitely both very curious about each other.
With William trying to learn to crawl, he spends a lot of supervised time on our carpet. He definitely tries to crawl to Inky when she is willing to stay still.
William has seen us pet Inky, and is eager to do so himself, in part as she is so soft. While we encourage interaction, this is supervised by us, to make sure each of them is acting gently towards one another.
We definitely need to supervise as they both are still learning about each other, gently touching and boundaries. With this supervision, they are both doing well with each other.
It was heartwarming to see Inky gently licking William’s hand. The day will come when they will be able to interact with each other without supervision, though that will most likely be a long way off.
