Two years ago today my life was forever changed when Matt and I welcomed our son, William. He was born at 10:26 am at El Camino Hospital at,7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 18.75 inches in length. His birth day truly was one of the happiest days of my life.
Candy has said William gets such a kick out of life and it’s true. He loves songs and being sung to, he probably enjoyed having Happy Birthday being sung to him with his cupcake and two candles on top as much if not more so than the presents.
I’ve learned so much as a parent including increased patience and how to find so much joy in ordinary things (like sunglasses and bubbles). It’s been amazing to see William learn change and grow, whether it’s adding new words to his vocabulary (some just by imitating us, like Go, Sharks!), and show off his friendliness and desire to do some things independently.
Last night was our last night as parents of a one year old, and his last night before he turns two. As is usual for him, he couldn’t sleep right away (he’s like me in this). So I sang songs to him through the baby monitor and he kept saying again. I sang everything from familiar songs where I’d throw in references to going to sleep, and parts of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and all of Little by Little, both songs I’d sung in choir in junior high (and had to look the words up to as it had been so long).
