Week 10 – Baby is the Size of a Kumquat

Each Monday along with it being the start of my work week, it’s a new week start for our baby. Today I am ten weeks, so my baby is the size of a kumquat, a fruit that until this weekend I’ve never purchased or eaten. For size comparison I placed my engraved key necklace with “Fearless” on it above the kumquat.

As yesterday Matt and I watched Wrestlemania complete with a cutout of The Undertaker, so we used it in our size photo.

As a curious mom to be, I’ve been greatly enjoying various apps for my iPhone including this 3D representation from Sprout.

At ten weeks my baby has now transitioned from embryo to fetus. His or her toes and fingers will lose their webbing this week and the tail has faded away.

The heart will divide into four chambers and teeth begin to form. More muscles and organs are forming and the placenta will now play a greater role epsically in delivering hormones to the baby.

With all these changes the baby will begin putting on weight quickly and my stomach may start looking more pregnant soon, perhaps with a somwhat dramatic change in time for our April 22nd pregnancy announcement photo shoot.
