Ten Week Appointment

Whenever I have a prenatal appointment, the hours before it are always ones of joy, excitement and curiosity. Today’s appointment went great and may be my favorite among our visits so far.

My blood pressure came down a bit from last time with the top number down from 139 to 124, perhaps I’m getting over white coat syndrome and/or my body is doing really well with my extra healthy diet.

The highlight of my visits has always been the ultrasounds. The first two visits have had ones with the probe used internally, and I was delighted when the nurse told me this would be through my abdomen.

Our doctor told us they scan being external and with the fetal development would be less detailed than the others still we saw lots of great images including the one with the doctor’s finger pounding out our baby’s head that Matt took.

The doctor was even able to move the probe to stimulate baby to kick which s/he did several times and he made sure we both saw his or her aorable little movements.

The doctor used the measuring tool to estimate me as 10 weeks 5 days pregnant with Estimated Due Date of October 27th.

The baby’s heartbeat was shown on the screen in colored lights and we got to hear the strong heartbeat as well. Of course we got many great sonogram pictures, even receiving and extra set for Candy.

Due to my age the doctor scheduled my next appointment to be between 2-3 weeks, so I’ll next be seen April 21st and hopefully will get new sonogram pictures which we can use in our photo shoot for the next day.

Before and at the appointment medical terms and insurance was discussed, which I will cover in a later blog post.
