26 Week OB Appointment

Dr. G’s office has several exam rooms for his patients and as some are larger and configured to be more spacious than others they are more practical to do a sonogram in.

To my delight I was put in one of these rooms, so I hoped he’d do one for us. He did run a quick one for us at the end to do what he calls taking an extra peek inside.

While it’s impractical to do one at every visit, they are my favorite part of any visit where they are run.

We saw a great clear view of baby’s spine.

We also saw baby’s head clearly. Our baby is measuring about 28 days which is bigger than our due date measurement of 26 weeks. This may be due to genetics with Matt having been a big baby.

As usual we reviewed numbers and data points. While my weight is 4 pounds less than less time this could be due obtyw increasd excercise I am doing, less salt consumption or it could be insignificant as two data points for weight can vary for no discernible reason.

Dr. G discussed how my Glucose Tolerance Test results were over the passing limits, so I’m officially diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. Though I ate more carbs the night before than usual the values lead him believe it’s my placenta and not food consumption that led to my result.

I’ll be meeting with a nutritionist tomorrow to have a 1:1 session about strategies to get it under control for my sake and baby’s. Though this can lead to bigger babies he does not think baby’s  growth at this stage is due to that.
