My First NonStress Test (NST) with Dr. E

With Dr. G still taking off some time, I had my first visit with his partner doctor, Dr. E. Dr. E’s nurse has asked where they had heard our baby last, so I showed her pics from my last visit so she could use them as a guide.

It seemed like the monitor for me was put up a bit higher than last time.

To help baby move around to get a good reading, I brought some cold water to sip on.

I also played a few songs from my phone including one of my favorites, “Set on You” by George Harrison.

The baby’s numbers and mine stayed relatively consistent throughout.

For the first time I’ve seen the machine lost contact with the baby multiple times resulting in this ? reading.

Candy went to get the nurse who came in to fix the straps.

Dr. E soon came in to look at the readings.

Despite the music and the water the baby was not getting his or her heart rate up for a long enough time with movements.

Dr. E tried to help the baby wake up so I could get enough higher rates recorded. I also shifted positions as the one I had was putting too much pressure on my tail bone.

Finally the baby’s heartbeat was recorded as moving fast enough that I was done with the test. Starting next week, I will have two NSTs a week.
