This is a weekend of tree decorating for the Perri family. To start Candy visited us in San Jose so we could decorate the tree together. Candy had the great idea for us to take photos of William with the special ornament to commemorate his very first Christmas.
Matt also has an ornament with him as a baby on it. According to Candy, the ornament on the left may have been made by or for him when he was in grade school. The ornament on the right was purchased by Candy and holds a photo of his first visit with Santa.
I love how photos can convey so many details and emotions to be preserved forever. Here we all are in our red and white Christmas outfits. Not only does William have a sleeper with several Santas on it, he appears to actually be trying to look at the ornament as we beam proudly in the moment.
It’s actually a little ironic. A friend who had always said my smiles never seemed full enough in photos commented instead on my radiant smile for the first time upon seeing these. I agree with her, my smile is bright as my heart is so full of love for our son.
These photos were actually taken in between naps for William. We had to gently wake him to bathe him and our him in his special sleeper.
Then it was time to get a few pictures showing William posing as if he was truly hanging his ornament on the tree.
Of course William doesn’t know he’s the star of the show.
His ornament hangs proudly on our tree along with another dedicated to him.
This was a great way to kick off our Christmas preparations with Candy. I look forward to making more memories with her this weekend.
