New Year’s Eve 2015 was a night of many firsts for Matt and I. We had decided many months before that to have an amazing NYE, the best way was to find an amazing party and stay there all night. After much consideration Matt, Candy and I decided to spend the evening at The Fairmont in San Jose.
In addition to it being our first NYE at the Fairmont, it was our first time staying at the famous Trefethen Suite.
The suite was absolutely exquisite as you can see from the panorama photo Matt took.
Though I chose to wear red, one of my favorite colors for my hair and just about everything else, Matt and Candy chose the more traditional option of wearing a stylish all black outfit.
This was a night full of amazing surprises. It turns out unbeknownst to us that Matt’s family friend, Gary (who he is so close to that they’ve called each other cousins their whole lives) and his beautiful wife, Kristi, were having dinner at a restaurant very near ours. When Matt saw this on Facebook, he invited them to join us for our rented table at the Fairmont.
To our surprise and delight, they were thrilled to join us. Additionally, they had wonderful news for us. We had asked Gary to be our wedding officiant as in California it is very easy to be ordained for the day. With this unexpected meeting in person, Gary, who had originally thought he might be representing his company at a convention on that day, told us that he was able to do so.
The night was amazing in all ways for the way everything fell into place, good company and great all over mood. It’s one of the best nights out we’ve ever had, and while we’ve had great NYEs since then, including going back to the Fairmont the next year with different friends, that may be the NYE to top all others. This night is especially in my memory now as Gary and Kristi have agreed to be William’s Godparents and will be meeting him for the first time this weekend.
