Moving On Permanently From His Bassinet

I’ve blogged a few times about how often people tell Matt and I that William will grow up before we know it. We definitely see this for ourselves when clothes that fit him one day first get too tight then eventually don’t fit him at all, or when we look at photos from his birth to now and see how big he’s gotten. His latest growth spurt, in terms of height and weight, along with how he can push himself up on his hands mean it was time to make the transition from the bassinet to his Lotus Travel Crib.

This marked the first night he’d slept in the crib in our place. He woke up around the times he normally would to breast feed, so he got many hours of sleep with some breaks in between.

As he’d slept in it before at Candy’s house, he was familiar with using it as his bed for the night and for naps.

Still it was weird knowing that this wouldn’t be his main bed at home.

We offered the crib to our upstairs neighbors, Todd and Yuka, who are expecting their son in a few months. They gratefully accepted.

We let William use the bassinet as sort of a play area one last time.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to let him do so, and to get these photos capturing the last time it was his bed.

Then it was time to help him out and let the neighbors know we were ready for them to have their new (to them) bassinet.

Ironically the second night went worse than the first, with him waking almost hourly to breast feed.

Still this transition had to be made and I’m sure it will work out for all of us.
