Sometimes memories come through apps on my phone of small moments in my life that remind me just how much things have really changed. The app, On this Day, sent me three photos from 9 years ago that really captured a time in my life right before a very important job became part of my life. I was delighted at the reminder and all the fun in the photos.
The photos were taken at The Old Spaghetti Factory, a place I liked for the decor including the famous train car with seating for small parties. While usually they only seat groups with a child or two in them, if you ask they will seat those who are young at heart. I’d always wanted to eat in the trolley, but had been unable to find anyone who though the idea was as much fun as I did.
Luckily, my friend Felix, thought it was a great idea. I don’t remember whose idea this photo was from, but this blurry (due to the quality of my phone camera at the time) photo really captures all the fun of the day. It was an interesting time for us both as we’d both interviewed for jobs, and he assured me I’d get the one I applied for, a Lobby Ambassador position at Cisco. I did get it and ended up meeting many people there who are my friends to this day including Petra and Shauna and years later I met Matt there as well. While Felix did not get the position he applied for, he soon found an even better opportunity for himself.
Unsurprisingly, a lot has changed in 9 years, with both Felix and I meeting our spouses and starting a family. He’s even moved to Texas, which seems to be a popular state for those who live in California to move to. I’m happy these memories came up on the app, both for sentimental reasons, and as a reminder that someday William might enjoy eating in the trolley car as well.
