Trying Banana for the First Time

Along with rice cereal and oatmeal, both fortified with iron, William’s first foods were to include fruits. Yesterday I eagerly bought a few bananas at the store thinking that he would enjoy them for sure.

To get the proper texture, I mashed up the banana pieces very well with a fork. I couldn’t wait to see his reaction to this new sweet food.

While at first we got a lot more on his face then in his mouth, after a few bites he really seemed to like what he was tasting.

Unfortunately, with him now having two front bottom teeth, the one on the left up and the one on the right still doing a lot of breaking through, he’s still in a lot of teething pain. We stopped a few times as he rubbed his teeth and gums.

After I’d fed him a bunch of spoonfuls, Matt took his turn feeding him.

Just as he did with me, Matt also turned away from Matt many times during the process.

At this point I finally put a bib on him.

William’s expressions during this were so comical. Here he almost seems scared of the new food.

Yet, just a few moments later, he really seems to be enjoying it again.

Per Dr. V’s recommendation, we will try another new fruit in a few days time, and soon start on vegetables.
