Cinco de Mayo Party / Farewell to Dear Friends

Last month when William and I met Shauna for lunch , she had shared with me that she and her husband, Jason, were moving to Louisiana. Since they had a few weeks left to move at that point, we invited them over, along with mutual friends Paul and Monica for a combination Cinco de Mayo and Goodbye Party.

Matt loves decorating for parties. Last year we had had a small Cinco de Mayo Party (though I was only drinking mocktails due to my pregnancy) and we used some of those decorations along with some new ones to create this table for our party.

Paul and Monica were the first to arrive. They marveled at how big William had gotten since they first saw him in the hospital. Inky made sure to stop by to get attention as well.

Soon Shauna and Jason arrived as well. William reached out to Shauna to be picked up right away.

William was fascinated with Shauna, especially her glasses.

Monica couldn’t wait to hold William as well.

He just loves being held by everyone.

Shauna and Jason have two cats. Inky seemed to know this and came right up to Jason to be held by him.

At one point William was fussy, so Monica put the base of the table decoration on her head which he enjoyed seeing. I wasn’t fast enough to get a photo of her briefly wearing it, but I did take one while I wore it myself.

We made sure to get photos with Shauna and Jason for this, their last party at our house. We took fun and serious ones.

It’s hard to believe we will not see them soon, though we are invited to stay with them when we travel to Loiusiana someday.

Hopefully we will do so someday in the not too distant future, perhaps for Mardis Gras when William is old enough to appreciate it.
