Today is our second wedding anniversary. As it’s on a weekday we decided to have a quiet celebration at home, then have our big dinner over the weekend. I made this picture collage to mark the day on Facebook showing one of my favorite photos from our special day and photos commemorating special moments in our married life that involve William.
Matt posted on Facebook the family portrait photo of the three of us with the caption of how happy we all are. William is a happy baby, yet he wasn’t smiling in his photo, so I posted this second collage in his thread showing many happy expressions over different days.
I was so excited to give Matt the card and gifts I’d chosen for him.
His card to me, left, had shoes showing our wedding colors and are similar to shoes we own. Mine to him was all about bears, as we have so many stuffed ones in our home for ourselves and William and we often call William “Bear” as one of his many nicknames.
As cotton is the traditional second anniversary present, I bought Matt a cotton shirt. This one references “My Cousin Vinny”, a very funny movie I enjoyed watching with Matt.
The other gift, was my bigger more special one for him, an experience that could serve as a date night for us both.
It was a two part gift, with a fine dining meal and entertainment. It was great seeing his reaction as he saw the two different parts.
It’s typical for Matt and I to give each other similar gifts for Christmas. This year our anniversary gifts were both nights out for a date night. Mine to him was dinner at the Mountain Winery followed by the comedy duo of Steve Martin and Martin Short. These two are some of his favorite performers, especially Steve Martin.
His gift to me was tickets to the Hall and Oates concert. He’d remembered how much fun my dad and I had had seeing them so many years ago. It was a great anniversary evening.
