Last night Matt and I had the second part of our two year wedding anniversary celebration, a dinner out for just the two of us. While we have had a few nights when Candy watched William so we could join friends out for plans, this was our very first night out since we had had a baby. We took the light rail to our destination in downtown San Jose.
As is our tradition, Matt chose our dinner location as a surprise to me. His choice was Scott’s Seafood, a place we had seen advertised on TV and commented on a few times that we should go there, and last night was that time. We arrived in time to get happy hour drinks and an appetizer.
The tropical drinks went great with the amazing crab cakes we had.
Matt had hoped we could be seated on the amazing rooftop patio. Unfortunately the entire patio had been rented for a private party. However, he was able to get us a great table with a view outside. Our paper menus even had “Happy Anniversary” across the top.
The flower in my hair reminded me of our honeymoon in Hawaii.
We started our meal with Oysters Rockefeller. We’d never tried these before, and were so glad we gave them a shot as they were wonderful.
We enjoyed the Raymond bottle of wine that Matt had saved for a special occasion, in honor of his dad with the same name as the vineyard.
To our surprise and delight, Candy had arranged for champagne to be brought to us during the meal.
It was perfect to have to toast to our two years of marriage and many more to come.
We both had a hard time deciding on what to order for dinner as there were so many choices. I finally settled on the lobster risotto which was absolutely amazing. I had expected lobster chunks, so I was amazed when it came out in the shell. Matt had the surf and turf which had crab legs. (I somehow forgot to take a photo of Matt’s plate.)
The restaurant surprised us with a free anniversary dessert.
Matt suggested we extend the night a bit longer. We went to Cafe Stritch, a jazz club. The music was very lively, a good compliment to the more mellow music we’d had at Scott’s Seafood.
All too soon, it was time to go home. We had a wonderful evening celebration.
