Matt and I had not been to J. Lohr Winery in a long time. The last time I had been was when my mother had come to town two years ago for Mother’s Day and she, Candy and I all went together. As I was pregnant with William at the time I could not drink, yet we still had a good time. Matt’s last visit had even been longer than that. So we looked forward to going now as I would be able to enjoy the tasting with Matt.
While we knew children in strollers were welcome at J. Lohr, we wondered if anyone actually brought their infants. As we entered we spotted another couple with their young son, who was 4 and a half months old.
One reason for our visit was to drop off corks. J. Lohr is part of a program that recycles cork to make sandals for countries with a great need for footwear.
We’d been saving corks for a long time to donate.
We had two large Ziploc bags to give.
Our pourer was Richard, who by coincidence was also the pourer I’d had when we went two Mother’s Days ago. As is usual Matt tasted reds and I tasted whites. We did try small tastes of each other’s selections.
William enjoyed drinking from his sippy cup and was good our whole visit.
We told Richard how well behaved William tends to be in public and even how he’d been to the Three Michelin Starred restaurant, The French Laundry, for Matt’s birthday celebration.
