17 Week OB Appointment

We knew going into our 17 week appointment that Dr. G would only be using a Doppler instead of running a full ultrasound. Still, Matt and Candy I looked forward to our visit as always. In this standard visit Dr. G brought up baby aspirin which he had mentioned as a possibility of my taking in an appointment over a month ago.

To our surprise, he thought I’d already begun taking them. I was confused as he’d said initially that would be if my blood pressure climbed, but instead it’s stayed the same or gone down for some readings. He told me I was supposed to get told this by the genetic counselor I’d met with backin mid April. I let home know while we’d discussed tests I would take including the NIPT, she had not mentioned a word about baby aspirin.

After informing me that many people, including he himself, took it for many health benefits, recommended I start taking it. So now I will take either two pills a day, if I have a prenatal vitamin with DHA, or, as has been the case every so often that I can’t find penatals with DHA, three pills.

Dr.G had asked me to bring in my home blood pressure monitoring cuff so he could help us get set up. As the three of us were able to figure it out by ourselves, we took our blood pressures.

Later as part of my regular appointment the nurse took my blood pressure. The results she got (top photo) and our cuff (bottom photo) were pretty similar though the cuff recorded a much higher pulse.

Dr. as he had promised used the Doppler so we could hear our baby’s strong heartbeat. After I was given lab forms to get my quad screening which results I will get in a few weeks.

As everything looked great at my visit so instead of asking me to come in at two weeks as he usually did asked me to come in at three weeks from the day.
