Today we helped Candy celebrate her birthday locally in San Jose. She is a great wrapper who enjoys fancy wrapping paper, so I was grateful that Matt helped wrap them expertly in this fun Birthday Girl wrapping paper.
Candy shares her June 3rd birthday with her late husband, Raymond. So we went to the cemetery to put flowers on his grave for what would have been his 70th birthday.
She also put some on his parents’ graves.
For dinner we had Ciopinno from By the Bucket to which Matt added some additional ciopinno broth and seafood. The flavors blended together well to make a delicious meal that we dipped garlic bread into.
After dinner we gave her presents that included Power Dressers (fashion of First Ladies and women in politics),
a framed photo of all three of us from our pregnancy reveal session,
and Miles Davis’ record, “Someday My Prince Will Come”. Candy loved these very different presents.
Candy requested apple pie instead of cake. Matt and Candy both tried to use the narrow curving candles to light each other. The candles swayed a bit and even spilled some wax.
At one point a candle even burned very close to the pie. Matt had to blow them out and relight them so she could blow them out herself. Candy laughed and laughed before blowing them out.
