One of the reasons I was looking forward to taking time off before our baby’s birth was to attend meetings like La Leche. As I knew pregnant women were welcomed I was glad I would have the opportunity to attend one in my local area.
At first I wasn’t even sure if three would be a meeting at the library location as there was so much construction out front, though luckily it did not turn out that the meeting was cancelled.
I wasn’t sure what to wear to the meeting other than it would be casual dress. I decided to wear a nursing top and my teething necklace.
I wore the shirt in part as I knew that it tended to shift around a bit, and so this would be a good test of how appropriate it would be to wear it in public or when I return to work.
There were about 15 ladies at the meeting including four leaders, and children ranging in age from 4 weeks to five years. It was great hearing stories, questions and answers from first and second time moms. Several mom’s nursed their babies during the meeting including one who nursed a toddler.
Although the meeting was over after an hour we were invited to stay longer and talk with each other if motivated to do so. Most women did, and when I chose to leave after an extra hour, there were still several women remaining.
