Matt’s 40th Birthday Party at Nola

Since Matt hit the milestone birthday of 40 this year, he was given two special celebrations. The first was yesterday, his actual birthday, which was spent with some friends and family members at the restaurant Nola, where we had spent Steve’s 40th birthday weeks before.

Years ago Matt had bought Candy big balloons for her birthday at Nola. This year she bought him a 40th birthday balloon set, shot glass necklace and pin.

William was much more alert for this party then he had been at Steve’s. This was probably due to him being just a bit older.

He looks so much bigger now as compared to when he was first born.

While this hat did fit William, he was happy when it slipped off from motion. I couldn’t resist taking his picture like this with the hat now pushed to the side and burp cloth around his face to help him stay warm as he ate.

Candy and William matched in colors of their ourfits. Candy let draped a beaded necklace from Nola over him for a quick photo as well.

William is always happy to see Scott.

Scott likes playing with William.

When he was hungry again at dinner, which lasted for several hours, Scott volunteered to feed him.

It’s really amazing how awake and alert her was throughout as if he didn’t want to miss any moments of his dad’s party.

It was a great relaxing meal that we were lucky enough to have in a private room as our party was just the right size. It could have come in handy if William was fussing and crying.

Scott mesmerized William with the movements of a spoon.

Someone suggested Matt wear the card Candy gave him that turned into a pop up cake on his head.

Candy had found the perfect cake design online and commissioned her favorite bakery to make it for the occasion.

The Darth Vader mask even played the characteristic breathing sounds. Matt wielded his knife like a light saber.

The waiter took a photo of our whole group.

William was awake and well behaved for the visit. This may have been part luck and part how well he and Scott interact. It was a great birthday dinner for Matt.
