Rolling Over Attempts

Today we had a lot of fun putting William on his puzzle mat. For the first time that I can remember he did the all arms and legs spread out position that I sometimes do to spread out while sleeping that Matt and I joke is acting like a starfish. I made a collage of some of his moments trying to roll completely over with and without help to show Candy.

As aforementioned he reminds me so much of me in this photo. It’s funny as he’d be in his bassinet next to me as I sleep and with a peek through panel, it’s possible he’s seen me sleep like this, or it could just be a tendency he has from me without ever having seen it demonstrated. Either way he looked so happy.

Not one to be left out, Inky got on the mat as well. It cracks us up how she wants to be near William, yet not interacting with him a lot of the time.

For the first time that I can remember, we saw William try, and try hard multiple times to roll over completely.

A few times I was so sure he was going to get it that I had my iPhone ready to capture the moment in bursts.

Unfortunately he would only get as far as his side, before rolling back onto his back.

Matt watched him closely in all this and said it was due to both how he had his arm underneath (which he changed a bit in some of the tries) and not having the strength yet to roll over that arm.

Still Matt wanted William to experience the success of what he was clearly was trying to do, with some help from his dad.

So with help from Matt, William completed a (parent guided) roll onto his stomach.

After a bit of time he wanted to be on his back again, so we put him on his back, and he again tried to roll over, still unsuccessfully.

We may have to wait another few weeks, maybe even longer than a month for this milestone. I can’t wait to see him reach it.
