It cracks me up how accurate some of the descriptions of what babies will be like at a certain stage is true for William. He is definitely a very vocal baby,
one whom you can tell if he’s happy with his smiles, giggles, screams in delight or sad with is crying, and angry screaming. It definitely does seem like we have more smiles and excited sounds from him then we have before.
One thing that makes William the happiest is being held close by people who love him and vice versa. There are times when he seems upset and the only thing that seems to calm him is being given to someone different to hold him, and Matt and I have definitely had to hand him off to one another often for just this very reason. Matt gets so many smiles out of him. I see so much of Matt’s features in him from time to time, as I do in this photo.
I’ve been told by many people how extra alert he is for his age. It’s true, he’s always taking in what is going around with him. In this photo he’s enjoy cuddling and having his head stroked by Candy.
While he definitely can smile and laugh just by watching the adults around him, he also has toys he adores. This is a rabbit toy Candy gave him for Christmas. I can practically hear him squealing with delight as he bites the rings on this one.
His newest toy, this Mickey Mouse from his Godmother and Brother, certainly makes him happy as well.
Way back when I was only a few months pregnant, our friend Bill, father of three kids, explained his views on having kids, that they had good days and bad days, just as we adults do, yet, for the most part they enjoy the simple things much more than we do. I love these special moments with William and hope he will enjoy looking at them, and reading about them someday.
