Three years ago, Matt and I discovered what has since become an annual tradition, The Pleasanton St. Patrick’s Day Beer Crawl. For several hours the town has many shops that serve beer tastings and participants go from one to another to enjoy the beer, have snacks and fun along the way. The first year we learned some people really dress up for it, so I had green extensions to put in my hair and a special shirt which read Team Perri Lifetime Member. The shirt was all the more appropriate as I had learned I was expecting since it arrived.
Of course since I knew I was expecting, I would only be enjoying the snack part of the crawl. We had to arrive early so I could purchase a limited Designated Driver bracelet.
As we got there early for me to do so, the line was very short and we soon had our wrist bands and were ready to go.
The first year Matt and I had done the crawl alone. Last year we were joined by two special friends, Shauna, who had been a bridesmaid in my wedding, and Jason, her then fiance and now husband. I love photobooths and was so happy to take this photo en route.
I also had this special one taken with Matt’s hand on my growing stomach. As the pregnancy was not to be announced to too many people at that time, this was a photo just for a few people in the know.
My hair was through an hours long dye process, in this photo almost the blonde color Shauna’s is naturally.
In other photos it was the strawberry blonde I had had it dyed specifically. I love this photo of Matt and I with the flags. We had this taken as part of our donation to send a care package to a member of the military overseas.
Shauna is part Irish, like myself, but Jason is not, nor is Matt. Still, Shauna and Jason both celebrated her heritage with colorful scarves.
At one point a beer pourer said she was so sorry I could not sample her product as I was in her words, “a yellow”. I proudly told her the reason and that I was fine missing out this year to have my much wanted child instead.
So, even with only my water, the ‘Crawl was a lot of fun. We made great memories and we all had a blast, drinking beer in their case and not in mine.
