Learning Through Play

While William is several years away from attending school, right now is one of the most important times in his life for learning. Babies are eager to explore the world and love new experiences. A lot of their learning is through play.

William is lucky having his Nonnie Candy watching him on Mondays and Tuesdays. She loves reading and singing to him, giving him toys to play with and playing peek-a-boo with him.

Sometimes William is easily distracted by outside noise or someone walking by. In this case he saw me packing up to go to work.

Yet, it’s obvious the games do have an effect on him. By watching him closely, I saw him doing the ducking down and popping back up for the peek-a-boo.

He ducked into the blanket in his car seat and popped up several times. I love the expressions on his face.

While I can’t ask him and get an answer, I’m convinced he was playing and learning based on others playing this game with him.

I don’t know whether he was doing this to amuse himself or to get my attention, as I was definitely watching him and taking photos. It was an adorable moment, though  in hindsight, I wish I’d captured it in video to be able to get all the little movements and sound as well.
