I decided to try William’s sippy cup with him again as part of the design to help him be done with bottles by his first birthday as doctor’s recommend. The first time he did not seem to like the cup much, so I thought perhaps with weeks gone by he would be more open to trying.
Unlike the first time, I tried this time with him in his high chair. I thought perhaps as he knows being in his high chair is a time to eat this would help. At first, he didn’t even want to look at the sippy cup. I tried holding it up to him directly.
Even with holding it for him, he wanted no part of the sippy cup. I tried both the nipple and the flat straw options, neither worked. He did take a regular bottle soon after.
Later that day we went out for a walk, and I made sure to take just a regular bottle for him.
I’m not sure if it’s the sippy cup design that is not working for him, or if he’s just not ready. My mom gave him a beautiful silver plated one with training lid for his baptism that I’ve been saving. I will try that one in the near future to see if perhaps a different design will encourage William to give it a try.
