Messy Mealtimes

It’s not surprising that we were given so many bibs at my baby shower. Mealtime is definitely one of the most messy parts of William’s day. As he’s learning about food tastes and textures and getting more involved in the process, his food tends to go all over the place. Here he is trying to feed himself directly with the spoon.

Although he only has one hand on his face here, he reminded me a bit of the famous painting “The Scream” with this one.

When he eats food gets on his hands, face, bib and especially on the table surface of his high chair.

It doesn’t even bother him that he wears so much of the food on his face and hands.

One evening he was more interested in slapping the table then eating. Without even discussing him, Matt and I joined him for a round of slap table.

William was very enthusiastic about this new game.

Still, even playing it with him didn’t encourage him to eat more. When he’s done with his meal, he’s done.
