A Toy To Encourage Walking

One of the best parts about having William go to daycare is how many different experiences he can have there. Mirabel has a house full of toys for young kids of all ages. When she asked me if she should try a baby walker with him, I of course said OK, eager to see how he would do with it.

With a mobile toy, William is even more in motion than usual. So these will be a bit blurry of him. One of the first things he did was to put his mouth on the handle.

He really didn’t seem to get that he could push it forward at all.

Mirabel lent him a hand, literally, to show how he could make it work (and even more fun for himself).

When she let go, he seemed to lose focus. I’m not even sure what on the couch caught his eye. Maybe it was all the wonderfully colored and textured pillows.

Then he decided he did want to pay attention the walker. However, he wanted to play with all the fun colors and shapes on the outside.

Perhaps this will help him learn to walk. Or, he may just enjoy it as a new toy to try and never figure out its purpose – time will tell.
