Oh, Baby, the Places You’ll Go! A Book to Be Read in Utero – Book Review

As a child one of my favorite books was Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, I even remember enjoying it so much as a young adult when it was read in part at a graduation ceremony I attended. So I was excited to get Oh, Baby, the Places You’ll Go! A Book to Be Read in Utero as a baby shower book.

Best Lowly Worm Book Ever! – Book Review

One of the coolest parts of being a new mom is finding out about children’s books. As a child I was an avid reader, and I knew I’d definitely enjoy sharing that love of reading with our child. However, there are many children’s books I’ve only learned about recently despite them being very popular for children. I had no idea who Richard Scarry as until I received a few of his books from Candy including “Best Lowly Worm Book Ever?” as a shower present.

Dr Seuss’s ABC – An Amazing Alphabet Book – Book Review

When we read to William we get mixed results, everything from a lot of interest to no interest at all. This is one of two books that I tried to read to him one night when he was fussing, the other being Ten Apples Up on Top. As with that book, due to his reaction, I had to reread it to properly review it here. This was a book that had quite the reaction at the same parts from Matt and I both.

Ten Apples Up on Top – Book Review

For this review I had to reread the book to truly review it. Upon first reading William was fussing and uninterested. I read it faster than I may normally have, trying to keep his attention. Neither this book, nor the other one I read, which I will review soon held his interest, though at his age, that may be expected. I formed my first opinion of the book during that hurried read, and now have reread it to fully form and report on my opinion.

Numbers/Numeros – Book Review

As parents, Matt and I are delighted that William will be exposed to English and Spanish both at daycare. This may help make it easier for him to learn and retain Spanish, a commonly used language in California, at a later age. To help his learning and retention, I bought two bilingual books for Maribel to read to him including Numbers / Numeros. I first noticed this book due to the soft area on the front where a baby can feel what the down of a chick (un pollito) might feel like.

My Very First Book of Food – Book Review

My Very First Book of Food was given to me by Sarah, who works with and appreciates good food. Looking at just the front cover, I originally thought it would be a book about making healthy food choices, perhaps even a small cookbook of sorts.

Sisterland – Book Review

As a new parent, I’ve found myself choosing books that relate to parenthood more and also being more focused on the relationship of parents to their child(ren) in books. Sisterland is a book about psychic tendencies and how they affect a pair of adult twin adult. As is typical in books about twins, they are opposites of one anothe in almost every way, complete with the stereotypical good and bad twin, the former of whom is a mother of two young children.

Goodnight iPad – Book Review

As a new mom I knew there were many books out there to read to children. I’ve been so grateful for all the books I received at my baby shower and from members of my church when they visited soon after I returned home with William from the hospital. One book a fellow church member, Sue, gave me had me literally laughing out loud just at the front cover, Goodnight iPad.

What Santa Wants For Christmas – Book Review

When Candy, Matt and I took William to see Santa, I knew I’d want something special to display his photo in. I looked at several frames and even a snow globe before finding something even more unique and special. What Santa Wants For Christmas is a soft book for adults to share with their child(ren) with a great way to personalize it for their visit with Santa.
