Throw Back Thursday – SF Giants – Home Opener as a Special Road Trip

Last year was the first time I was able to take off work to join Matt to view the San Francisco Giants’ Home Opener. Rather than a home based party as is his tradition, we combined the day with road trip to complete some very special errands as part of the process to get our marriage license.

We had received information from several different sources on if we had to get our marriage license in the county we lived in, San Jose, or where our wedding would be, Monterey. Though most sources said either would be fine, the coordinator at our venue said it was Monterey, and liking the area a lot, decided to go as an errand running road trip.

As I did for many special days during our engagement, I wore a few special things commemorating the occasion including a necklace with a picture of Matt and I at a live WWE show.

Another special thing I had for us both to wear were these custom sunglasses for each of us.

Matt wanted to wear his Giants jersey as per his tradition, and he also wore the sunglasses to match me for a photo. I wore my engagement ring with Yes! Yes! Yes!, all in rhinestones, the related words a reference to one of my favorite wrestlers. Daniel Bryan, who used that as his catchphrase.

Our first stop was the Monterey Recorder-County clerk in Salinas. The marriage license process is automated and quite fast. There were only a handful of other applicants, so our clerk Jackie, went above and beyond for us and snapped extra photos for us.

As I had had a wedding dress fitting appointment earlier in the day, we finished at the county office in the early afternoon. We listened the game on the radio en route to the Cannery Row Brewing Company. After lunch it was time to catch the rest of the game at the Wedgewood Golf Course and Country Club Loubge and to our surprise and delight, our team came from behind to win. It was a great day combining our love of the Giants with wedding errands, one we will never forget.
