This week, just as I was heading into my twelfth week of pregnancy, I realized a lot of my clothes particularly my pants as well as several of my tops were too tight for me. It seemed like a great time to start shopping especially as I had gift cards to Amazon, Macy’s and Target I could use.
I spent a lot of time putting things in and taking them out of my Amazon cart. Part of this was due to sizing, I wasn’t sure what to size to get made a little more complicated as many of the items were in UK sizes. I finally decided I really wanted to try on my pants prior to buying, so I bought tunic tops and under bump underwear. These tops came in sets of three (hence getting two black tops) and will be here tomorrow:
While I can return things via Amazon, as most with most customers I’d rather get my order right the first time. According to the site my normal medium sizes are medium so hopefully everything will fit.
Today Matt and I went to Macy’s and Target as I had a $150 gift card from Candy for my birthday and about $21 left on a gift card I received on Christmas. The shopping experiences were quite different, yet I successfully bought things at each.
We had a bit of a hard time finding the maternity department in Macy’s which had just been moved to another floor a few days before. Not knowing my maternity size I picked up pants, jeans and a dress in M and LbAfter making selections I found Jessica, the store’s maternity rep who came in to advise me in the dressing room, I even let her come in with me.
She advised me that the Ls fit best and I ended up with gray, black and blue yoga/legging type, khaki business casual pants and blue jeans, all with the over the bump adjustable panel. Apparently most women wear the same size in maternity as they did prior to their pregnancy, but as a woman whose often in between sizes the larger size worked best.
I decided with her help to dress shop later as I’d been looking mostly for something I could wear to an outdoor July wedding. She took my information and will call me for the next sales and new items. With the discount based on buying 4 or more maternity items yielding 30% off, my total was $115 and change.
I was really happy with my purchases, yet we decided to visit arget anyway. Targets maternity section was composed of only a few racks. They had green shorts in a color I loved, but not in pants like I’d hoped to find. Target had a family fitting room, so Matt was permitted to go in with me. The L deep green shirt and size 12 back jeans both fit with room for my bump to grow.
I’ll be wearing the green shirt and blue jeans from my shopping today to Easter tomorrow. All in all shopping was a fun experience, and I look forward to buying more in the future as my pregnancy bump grows.
