Being that it’s my first Mother’s Day as a mother to be, I was curious how the day would be celebrated all around me. I wore my gorgeous petal necklace Candy had given me for my birthday (both as it’s one of my favorite dress up necklaces and a symbol of motherhood). My mom att need services with me. Pastor Jane had mentioned to me that there would be coursages made by the children and that I should take one after services.
The flowers she explained were for mothers and others who served a mother type role in the lives of children. The children of our church had made great roses our of painted pine cones, it was hard for mom and I to choose just one. Pastor Jane said as there were extras that people could take some for mothers and others in our lives so I took two, one for each other mother we’d be celebrating with today.
It was great to have flowers to wear for us and for Candy and Matt’s sister-in-law’s mom, Jennifer.
While waiting for Jennifer and her daughters, Jennie and Sarah, to arrive we took a all women family photo.
All the women and moms went to the Firehouse Theater in Pleasanton to see the musical, Evita. Our seats were in the balcony, so we had a great view of all parts of the stage.
After the play we return to Candy’s house for dessert. Matt and I brought our Smores machine with fixings for many kinds of Smores.
After dessert it was time for presents.
I was definitely looking forward to the gifts we got for my mom and Candy. Both ladies received notification that a star had been named in honor of my late stepdad and Candy’s late husband (and father of her kids Matt, Scott and RaeAnne).
Inside the little boxes were pendants with the star coooedinates, Cubic Zirconium stone representing the stars and a Mother’s Day Message.
I received a present and two cards from Matt.
The cards were both sweet and funny.
My present was a mother and child turtle necklace featuring opal, our baby to be’s birthstone.
I had a fun day celebrating with the moms and enjoying it as a mother to be.
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms and moms to be!
