Today Candy visited Matt and I to help us celebrate Matt’s first Father’s Day as Father to Be. Matt told me it had was a great and new experience to have his coworkers tell wish him a Happy Father’s Day on Friday. Here we had cards, gifts and a special sign I put on a chalkboard to represent our child’s message to him.
I had fun making the sign this morning making sure to add a heart, baseball and Bump in both the traditional pink and blue colors for a girl or boy.
Candy gave Matt two books including “Your First Word Will be Dada” by Jimmy Fallon, which Matt said he will read to our baby and “The Expectant Father” with great advice for him during my pregnancy.
The saying that two great minds think alike proved true as I also had books for Matt: “So You’re Gonna Be a Dad, Now What?”, “Dude You’re Gonna Be a Dad!” and “Dad’s Guide to Be a Pregnancy”. The first and latter books are serious books with some humor whereas the middle book is a book with lots of humor and a dash of actual real advice here.
This was my favorite thing for him, and the first present I bought him for today. It’s a father and baby set of Achievement Unlocked tops: Fatherhood for him and New Character Created for him or her.
In the spirit of Go Big or Go Home, Matt wanted to try a brand new dish for our main course – oven roasted tri tip. The meat was coated in teriyaki sauce overnight, then we added a rub to marinate overnight.
It was a great holiday celebration for all three of us. I look forward to celebrating it again next year, and this time our child will be eight months old.
