Week 19 – Size of an Heirloom Tomato

This week our baby is 18 weeks along which is the size of an heirloom tomato. While smaller than the bell pepper of a week ago it, and the baby, are longer in length at 6 inches. For size comparison, I put my Faith rubber wristlet on top of the tomato.

Bump Photos Weeks 13 – 17

As people who love taking photos of ourselves and each other, I was definitely looking forward to having Matt take photos of my expanding bump. We started with Week 13 and were still figuring out how to best do them, so I’m missing ofthe shots I started the next week. I put stickers on my belly to show the week.

Social Occasions and Pregnancy

In the months of my pregnancy so far there have been many parties and celebrations. This has necessitated changes to what I eat and especially drink. Ironically, the original plan for my birthday was a small party at home on the actual date, which is St. Patrick’s Day followed by a Pub Crawl in Pleasanton. I’d had so much fun last year at this I knew we had to return though I would have to forgo the beer.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting – Book Review

There are many people who recommend the book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”. I’d even bought a copy for a friend many year’s ago, at a time when it was the only relevant book I knew. So now at 15 weeks pregnant, it was time I gave this book known by some as “the Pregnancy Bible” a read for the first time.

NIPT Results and Sharing News with My Church

This is one of my favorite posts to have written so far, as it gives me the opportunity to share wonderful news. On Wednesday I got a call the geneticist regarding my NIPT Test. We had been expecting the results a week later, so it was with great joy that I got them early and was told that baby tested negative for trisomies 13, 18 and 21. Down’s Syndrome, the latter one, was the most likely if any were present, but the test showed a genetically healthy baby. I was in happy tears as I told Matt and his mom, separately by phone, and celebrated with having Matt take my first bump pics. Continue reading “NIPT Results and Sharing News with My Church”

Pregnancy and Job Changes

Ever since December 2016 I’d been working at a company I’ll call Company A, through an employment agency I’ll call Employer E. While I had known when I accepted the assignment that it was a temporary position, there had been talk that there might be an extension. Unfortunately due to budget shortfall, myself and all others had our contracts end early.
