Stanford’s Free Skin Cancer Screening Clinic

A few years ago I’d heard, correctly, that Stanford offers free skin cancer screenings once a year. Since people I knew including my mom had had suspicious moles removed, and as I have lots of freckles and some moles it seemed like a good idea to go. All was good, yet they recommended especially as someone with fair skin that I consider getting annual screens. A few weeks ago something reminded me of that opportunity and I saw to my surprise it was coming up soon. So on June 3rd, prior to celebrating Candy’s birthday with her, I was able to get in another free cancer screening.

Gwendy’s Button Box – Book Review

One of my favorite authors from Childhood was Stephen King. I read “Eyes of the Dragon”, “Carrie” and “Firstarter” perhaps at younger ages than I should have and multiple times each. I was eager to read his novella collaboration with Richard Chipman, “Gwendy’s Button Box”.

Adding Cloud Island at Target to Baby Registry

Soon after I posted my Pregnancy Questions and Answers post, a friend who read it told me that Target was soon releasing a gender neutral line of baby items called Cloud Island. Intrigued by the idea, Matt and I went to Target today to see if we should add them to the places where we are registered which includes Buy Buy Baby which I blogged about as well. Target does not have consultants who help you select items, they just give you a scanner to scan items.

Anniversary and Babymoon Weekend

As is his tradition, Matt didn’t tell me where we were going for our Anniversary and Babymoon Weekend trip. He did give me some hints along the way including that he didn’t think there would be bellhops and it might be too cold to swim, yet we packed swimsuits in case it was not. I enjoyed our trip and was delighted when we pulled up to the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort in San Simeon. It is one of his mom’s favorite hotels and we’d stayed nearby yet, this was our first stay together at this location. When we got there we were ahead of the four p.m. check in time, so we ate lunch at Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill Restaurant.

Bump Photos Weeks 13 – 17

As people who love taking photos of ourselves and each other, I was definitely looking forward to having Matt take photos of my expanding bump. We started with Week 13 and were still figuring out how to best do them, so I’m missing ofthe shots I started the next week. I put stickers on my belly to show the week.

Over the Hill at Fourteen – Book Review

Tomorrow I will be taking place in a photoshoot for Company C’s print and online advertising. This inspires the book review for this week as I revisit a favorite book of my childhood and teens to see how it holds up when read as an adult, “Over the Hill at Fourteen” by Anna Callan.

Week 17 – Size of a Turnip

At 17 weeks our baby is the size of a turnip – the first food item that provided a real challenge for us to find at our local grocery store. After asking a produce worker where they are and vaguely being told they were in a cooler to the left, then disappearing on us, we found what we believe is a turnip by looking up pics online. For comparison purposes I put the vegetable next to the bracelet I wore to a friend’s birthday party last night.

FAQ – With Real Questions & Observations We’ve Receieved

Matt has told me for weeks that I need to do a post with actual questions and observations we’ve received since announcing our news (some family and close friends were told sooner than our anniversary), so here goes starting with the most popular one.
