Our baby is now in week eleven of development. This correlates to the size of a fig, or as they are not quite in season, the size of a date. We wore our San Francisco Giants jerseys in honor of the opening day for our team at home, which I’ll write about later this week.
I’ve been blessed with good health over my life, something I am very gratfeful for. As a result I do not have a lot of experience in dealing with insurance companies for myself for non routine visits. It was with great confusion that Matt and I had received a letter form our insurance company denying our ultrasound expense. We’ve been doing our best to understand the ins and ours of our insurance but it’s been confusing in the way navigating the maze below might be.
When I had my first OB appointment with Dr. G, he gave me a bunch of literature on pregnancy including a yellow sheet with over the counter medicines I could take safely during my pregnancy. Now, with a cough lasting three days and getting especially worse this morning, I decided to start my day at Urgent Care. As I was there early, I was the second patient signed in. The triage nurse had me put on a mask and gown.
This week I review a product I was very excited to buy, PharMeDoc Total Body Pillow with Jersey Cover billed as The World’s Most Comfortable Maternity / Pregnancy Cushion. My hope was that the pillow would help me sleep on my left side, the preganancy position recommended by doctors despite my natural tendencies to sleep on my back or stomach.
Two years ago, on March 25, 2015, Matt and I went to the entertainment event of a lifetime, Wrestlemania 31 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. As lifelong wrestling fans, it was a dream come true for both of us, so in honor of Wrestlemania 33, which we watched from home, I’m posting memory photos all taken by Matt as my blog’s first Throw Back Thursday.
Whenever I have a prenatal appointment, the hours before it are always ones of joy, excitement and curiosity. Today’s appointment went great and may be my favorite among our visits so far.
As a bookworm I’ll be reading dozens of books during my pregnancy, many about pregnancy and raising children and some that are not. Every Tuesday I will be reviewing a book, starting with “Expecting Better: Why the Conventional Pregnancy Wisdom is Wrong–and What You Really Need to Know” by Emily Oster, the first pregnancy related book I choose to read.
Each Monday along with it being the start of my work week, it’s a new week start for our baby. Today I am ten weeks, so my baby is the size of a kumquat, a fruit that until this weekend I’ve never purchased or eaten. For size comparison I placed my engraved key necklace with “Fearless” on it above the kumquat.
Since the end of January I have been attending a new church, Almaden Hills United Methodist Church. It’s been amazing at attending a church with a strong active faith demonstrated both in terms of community building and volunteerism.
This morning’s service included the hymn “Lord of the Dance” and the pastor had many members pulled into dancing around the church. I was one of those selected and took a few pics as well of which this was my favorite.
This year Matt and I were delighted to hear our friends The Barrs were expecting. Matt grew up with the mother to be’s husband, living on his street. We’d attended their wedding and they attended ours years later with the wife singing a song at our reception. This was the first baby shower of the year for me with a twist, the first one I was attending while pregnant myself.
