Sleeping Duration and Frequency

I’m asked frequently if William finally sleeping through the night. Some people had mentioned when he had been on solids for a while or was a particular age he would, however as of today, he is still not sleeping through for an uninterrupted amount of time. I’m convinced this is in part as he doesn’t want to miss things. Here he was trying to hold onto his bear instead of letting me ease him into bedtime.

The Pumping Journey Continues

Today William is officially seven months old. That means that I have been directly breast feeding, supplementing (with formula and now we have added actual food) and pumping. For optimal milk production I would in theory be pumping every three hours when not directly pumping. Like most moms I don’t follow that schedule exactly, especially I am not waking up to do so when sleeping, though I do breastfeed when he wakes up during the night.

William is Thirty Weeks

All babies are different: some crawl sooner than others, and some don’t crawl ever – advancing straight to walking. We’ve been thinking a lot lately about crawling styles and which ones William uses and will use in the future. His Godmother, Kristi’s son, Tyler, did a commando type crawling first. William is more apt to try to push his body up with his limbs, sort of like he’s a water skipper spider.

Volunteering at Church With the Cooking Station

Whenever I attend church, William gets to hang out in the church nursery. I’ve been asked why I don’t bring him in with me, as another family does with their daughter who is only a few months older than William. I have considered letting him sit next to me, yet every time I bring him to the nursery he enjoys it so much. This week I was volunteering with the children who were doing the cooking station activity, so I definitely planned for him to be in the nursery so volunteering could have my full attention. The Children’s Ministry Director, Peggy Joy, agrees that as an active boy he probably has a lot more fun this way as well.

Two Year Wedding Anniversary Part Two – A Couple’s Night Out

Last night Matt and I had the second part of our two year wedding anniversary celebration, a dinner out for just the two of us. While we have had a few nights when Candy watched William so we could join friends out for plans, this was our very first night out since we had had a baby. We took the light rail to our destination in downtown San Jose.

William Wants to Stand Up

Candy has told me numerous times the story of how Matt as a baby grabbed the leg of a table and successfully pulled himself up to standing. This is probably how William will do it as well. So when I saw William seeming to want to try to replicate this, I called for Matt as he was in another room to come see.

Our Second Wedding Anniversary

Today is our second wedding anniversary. As it’s on a weekday we decided to have a quiet celebration at home, then have our big dinner over the weekend. I made this picture collage to mark the day on Facebook showing one of my favorite photos from our special day and photos commemorating special moments in our married life that involve William.
