Matt and I had not been to J. Lohr Winery in a long time. The last time I had been was when my mother had come to town two years ago for Mother’s Day and she, Candy and I all went together. As I was pregnant with William at the time I could not drink, yet we still had a good time. Matt’s last visit had even been longer than that. So we looked forward to going now as I would be able to enjoy the tasting with Matt.

How could it be that so much time has gone by? I’m so amazed by the fact that William grows up and changes before our eyes. The topic of memory, what he learns and retains at this age (and other ages) has always been one that’s fascinating to me.

Today in honor of William’s 9 month birthday, I did something I have rarely done, attempted a month shoot on the actual day he attained that many months. Matt warned me that he thought William wasn’t in the mood for it, yet I went ahead to try to take some pictures.

One of the best parts about having William go to daycare is how many different experiences he can have there. Mirabel has a house full of toys for young kids of all ages. When she asked me if she should try a baby walker with him, I of course said OK, eager to see how he would do with it.

Ever since I put a date tracker on my phone, I’ve been looking forward to this day. William is exactly 100 days away from his first birthday. Though I have many, many photos of him, I used this one, of him looking at Candy at only a few weeks old with a look of intelligence and perhaps a little contemplation in his eyes.

One of the questions I get most often about William is how he’s sleeping, in particular if he’s sleeping through the night. Sometimes he does, sometimes he does not. When he doesn’t it’s mostly just one wake up, which really isn’t that bad at all. Matt, William and I all enjoy that he’s able to get more uninterrupted sleep overall.
